Masahiro Maruyama
Japanese eyewear designer Masahiro Maruyama launched his eponymous line in 2011 and has since expanded to four collections of traditional techniques, influenced by hand-drawn sketches. In the Kawada district of the town of Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, well-established artisans make these frames with traditional methods such as Ding-style. Intentional dissymmetry is implemented to create genuinely unique frames and to fulfil the idea of unfinished art. In addition to the glasses’ functionality, the overall balance of the frame and the expression of the design is made possible by the technical abilities of the craftsmen.
