Frame Information

London’s Hotel Chelsea has never looked more beautiful than it does now. With an array of epicene fashion designers at its forefront, this modern landmark draws inspiration from Patti Smith’s visit to London in 1977 – playing at The Rock Garden Soho before bringing all the style and confidence that 1970s America had to offer. This frame by Cutler and Gross harkens back not only to punk rockers who were irreverent about their femininity but also poetry readings with audiences filled out sheets for participants alike; here, you could find any number of famous faces, including Janis Joplin drinking amongst others less well known yet no less influential members.

1391 is a modern take on vintage style. The frame influences both the original 0692 and 0137 and classic American black acetate glasses found in Graham Cutler’s archives that were worn by musicians such Bill Haley with his combo band during America’s B Movie Period (1930-1945). 3D sculpting was added onto its nose bridge while even more lavish attention can be seen on temples where they feature fretboard design reminiscent of guitars played back when rock n’ roll first came out.
